We started off by learning about the different volcanies around Auckland. Did you know there are now 53 volcanoes here in Auckland? Most of them are extinct but some, like Rangitoto, are just dormant and could become active in the future.





Welcome to Room 20's blog. We are a Year 5/6 class at Elm Park School in Pakuranga, Auckland, New Zealand. Our teacher is Miss D'Souza. Since the start of the term, Room 20 has been learning a lot about animals for our Inquiry.
In writing, we have worked hard to write information reports on a variety on animals. Our goal was to write a book to teach others about these amazing creatures.

This week we have been exploring with electronics.
Makey Makey is an electronic invention kit. The Makey Makey allows you to take everyday objects and combine them with the internet. Using the alligator clips attached to any conductive material you can control the keyboard of your computer, such as the space bar, arrow keys and left click of the mouse.
We are starting to understand how electricity works, how a current passes through objects and wires, and what things conduct electricity. We were surprise to learn that humans can be conductors of electricity too
